Charlotte Schmidlapp Scholarship Application
Each Spring, EKU Women and Gender Studies, the Department of History, Philosophy, and Religious Studies, and the Department of Social Work invite undergraduate students at EKU to apply for a Charlotte Schmidlapp Scholarship. Awards of $2,000, $1,500, and $1,000 will be deposited into the Eastern Kentucky University accounts of the first, second, and third place undergraduate winners, respectively. Winners are asked to present their essays during the HerStory Conference celebrating Women’s History Month.
All essays pertaining to women’s and gender-related history (including papers from any discipline with a cultural/historical component) are eligible for consideration. Applications are submitted through the EKU Foundations website. The 2024 application is due by March 15, 2024 at end of day.
The Grise-White Scholarship
EKU Women and Gender Studies invites applications for the Grise-White Scholarship. This award of $500 will be deposited into the Eastern Kentucky University account of the selected recipient. Award winners must hold a 2.75 GPA or higher and anticipate a Fall 2023 or later graduation date from EKU.
Scholarship criteria state that current EKU undergraduate students with a minor in Women and Gender Studies and a major in English may submit an original piece of poetry or other genre of creative writing for review by the selections committee. Applications are submitted through the EKU Foundations website. The 2024 application is due by March 15, 2024 at end of day.
