How might students benefit from taking summer courses?

School leaders need to know how to effectively communicate with the community and this course teaches specific techniques to effectively communicate with parents, community, and political leaders. We use video interviews to learn from top experts in the areas of communications and politics.

What advice would you give to a summer student taking your class?

My students have really enjoyed the assignment to meet and have an introductory conversation with a state legislator. Most people have never met their state representative or senator, and this is a great, low stress activity that can make students influential in politics and educational policymaking.

What is your favorite summer activity?

Running and training for the Berlin and Chicago marathons.
