The construction management program at Eastern Kentucky University has earned re-accreditation from the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE).
“EKU’s construction management program is widely recognized as a leader in producing highly qualified industry talent,” said Dr. Tim Ross, chair of the department. “And now with this re-accreditation from ACCE, it is one of only two such baccalaureate programs in the Commonwealth. ACCE accreditation helps students and employers identify quality programs and those with the potential for making lasting industry contributions.”
The program was established as a baccalaureate degree program in construction technology in 1977 and evolved into a construction management program with complementary minors, certificates and a fully online master’s degree.
The four-year program first earned ACCE accreditation in 1993.
Industry-specific accreditation reflects positively on the hard work and dedication of the program’s faculty, Ross said.
“For nearly 40 years, the construction management program has prepared students to occupy leadership positions in the construction industry,” Ross added. “We are producing some of the best and brightest graduates who are making a significant impact on construction in the 21st century.”
The American Council for Construction Education was established in 1974 to be a leading global advocate of quality construction education, and to promote, support and accredit quality construction education programs around the world. ACCE is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation as the accrediting agency for four-year baccalaureate degree programs in construction, construction science, construction management and construction technology, and the accrediting agency for two-year associate degree programs of a similar nature.
