Students in the Department of Communication at Eastern Kentucky University will provide press and social media coverage of the 30th annual East Kentucky Leadership Conference, to be held April 27-28 in EKU's Perkins Building.
“I'm excited to be able to have us participate with a real client and be allowed such an incredible experience before graduation,” said Brianna Bell, president of the Public Relations Student Society of America at EKU. "Taking part in the East Kentucky Leadership Conference will help EKU’s chapter reach its goal of becoming a PRSSA Star Chapter."
The conference will recognize and reward individuals who have shown exemplary leadership skills throughout EKU’s service region while providing an opportunity for communication students to apply their skills in a real-world setting and learn from new experiences. Students will also have the opportunity to sit in on workshops and network during the event.
“Being a part of the conference last year was an incredible experience,” said Annie Zomaya,an EKU public relations student who was on the public relations team for the 2016 conference in Morehead. “The connections I made and the things I learned have been extremely valuable to me during my internships and in my communication classes. You can’t beat real-world experience.”

The East Kentucky Leadership Foundation was founded in 1988 to promote leadership in eastern Kentucky. Now in its 30th year, EKLF continues to encourage leadership development, communication and collaboration throughout the region.
