Master of Science in Biology

Prepare for a career in science with a master’s degree in biology. Learn in EKU’s
state-of-the-art Science Building equipped with technologically advanced classrooms
and laboratories, take part in cutting-edge research opportunities and participate
in biology seminars hosted on campus. Choose from thesis and non-thesis programs of
study. Thesis research can be conducted in areas such as aquatic biology, animal behavior,
plant systematics, wildlife and conservation biology, physiological and molecular
ecology, and biomedical sciences, including cellular and molecular biology and microbiology.

Admissions Requirements

To apply, you must complete the online application with the EKU Graduate School. When the Graduate School has a complete application package (application, transcripts,
three letters of reference, graduate studies advisor agreement form and departmental experience & essay form), your file will be sent to our department for evaluation. The GRE is not required
for admission into this M.S. program. Final acceptance of an applicant is determined
by the Graduate Affairs Committee of the Department of Biological Sciences. Candidates
must have full application materials submitted to the EKU Grad School by February
1 to be considered for an assistantship awarded in the Fall.

Applicants should have an undergraduate major in an area of the biological sciences,
and supporting courses in chemistry, physics and mathematics are recommended. Any
deficiencies in a successful applicant’s undergraduate training will be specified
by the department’s Graduate Affairs Committee at the time of admission.
