Soon after the devastating floods in Eastern Kentucky, the Department of Parks, Recreation, Exercise, and Sports Science reached out to faculty, staff, students, alumni, friends, and community members seeking donations for their recreation equipment drive. Hundreds of items were donated, from bikes and tents to board games and toys. Once a substantial number of items were collected, the RPA Rec Club coordinated a drop-off with the assistance of Rec Club President Megan Back, Rec Club member Aleiah Coleman, and Pike County Relief Services. Students loaded their cars and drove to Pikeville, KY where the items were to be distributed to people in need. We are truly grateful to all who participated and made it possible for us to help the people of Eastern Kentucky!

This amazing effort has been recognized by the University and has been nominated for the 2023 EKU Student Life Awards for RSO Outstanding Service Program!
