How to Apply to the AASN Program
- Apply for admission to EKU by declaring your major as pre-nursing Associate of Applied Science in Nursing (pre-nursing AASN). Application to the School of Nursing AASN program is a separate process from admission to the University.
- Schedule (or plan to schedule) a mandatory HESI A2 admission exam as soon as the HESI A2 exam registration window opens. Review the last page in the AASN Application Packet AND Admissions Test document posted on the AASN page for exam information and the exam sign-up link.
- Activate a CastleBranch account according to instructions in the AASN application packet. Gather all immunization records, health insurance certificate/letter and CPR documentation. All documentation, including a CastleBranch drug test and a CastleBranch background check, must be accepted/approved by the CastleBranch review team prior to submitting an AASN application.
- By October 31 (spring admission) or May 15 (fall admission) submit the AASN online application for admission.
AASN Application Success Tips:
- Thoroughly review the entire AASN Application Packet and Admissions Test document, including the detailed clinical requirements. You must comply with the EKU clinical requirements precisely as outlined in the application packet.
- Start working early to complete the unique EKU clinical requirements needed to obtain clinical documentation for upload in your CastleBranch account–well in advance of the AASN application deadline. TB test documentation, health insurance certificate/letter, CPR documentation, drug test and background check are required. The process to obtain health insurance documentation, titers, boosters and series of immunizations can take up to 4 – 6 weeks– in some cases.
- If you need assistance with CastleBranch, call customer service at 888-723-4263.
- Work to obtain transcripts and other documents that may be required for the AASN online application.
- If you have been enrolled in another nursing program, prepare to complete relevant sections of the AASN online application.(Applicant From Another Nursing Program and Nursing School Director Reference). The previous nursing program director will complete their section of the form and send directly to the School of Nursing.
