Nursing 9 Traditional 4 Year BSN Program

Traditional 4 Year BSN Program

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is the minimal preparation for the professional practice of nursing. After graduation and successful completion of the National Council Licensure Examination, you will be prepared to practice nursing in a variety of settings including hospitals, community health and mental health agencies, industrial health centers, nursing homes, family planning centers, and crisis care centers. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree makes the difference in direct patient care, in your leadership management potential, and in the variety of opportunities open to you. The BSN degree offers an educational foundation that will allow you to grow into your potential and pave the way for future graduate study. Baccalaureate education in nursing prepares for a career in professional nursing practice. Graduate education in nursing prepares you for advanced levels or advanced practice nursing roles. Some of our graduates have entered the armed forces as commissioned officers or have served as missionary nurses, nurses with HOPE, Vista, or other humanitarian organizations.

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program combines general education courses with professional nursing theory and clinical education. The nursing program prepares you to function as a generalist and lays the foundation for graduate study in clinical specialties, research, teaching, supervision, and/or administration. At Eastern we have a progressive, innovative curriculum to guide you through the study of nursing science. The BSN and MSN programs at EKU are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC, 20001 (202) 887-6791. Accreditation is one indicator of excellence in nursing education.
