EKU Crowns 2023 Homecoming King and Queen

Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) crowned the 2023 Homecoming king and queen, Carson England and Ainye Rogers, on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023. England is a senior from Paducah, Kentucky, and represents the Maroon Platoon, EKU’s student organization dedicated to school spirit and cheering on the Colonels. Rogers is a senior from Frankfort, Kentucky, and was chosen by the Interfraternity Council to represent their organization.

Among the candidates who placed in the Homecoming royalty court included:

  • Claire Chambers from Shelbyville, Kentucky
  • Ashlyn Doom from Eddyville, Kentucky
  • Malina Gaworski from Lexington, Kentucky
  • Lizzy Shyrock from Versailles, Kentucky
  • Cady Gordon from Richmond, Kentucky

“The candidates who make up the Homecoming royalty court are among our most dedicated Colonels. These students have made a strong impact on their peers, enough to be selected to represent their entire organization,” said EKU President David McFaddin. “I am proud of this talented group of EKU students. Special congratulations to our king and queen.”

Registered student organizations at EKU nominate students for Homecoming. Nominees are then interviewed by a panel of EKU alumni. Each candidates’ interview score paired with the number of votes they received from the student body are tabulated to determine the Homecoming royalty court and winners.
