The School of Nursing received a grant from the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education to improve the preparation of nurses and other healthcare professionals. Grant funding enabled the purchase of equipment and other educational resources housed in the Clinical Skills Laboratory and Simulation Center. The grant award enabled the purchase of a variety of items that have replaced outdated resources and expanded the capacity to provide hands-on experiences for students with current technology and equipment.
Lab Coordinator, Keri New, is especially grateful to be able to “provide additional opportunities and experiences for students that they may not have had without the grant.” The resources are providing opportunities for students to develop new skills and be better prepared to respond to real-world situations in their nursing careers.
Chair, Dr. Brooke Bentley, shared, “Because of the award, the students are allowed to practice in a safe learning environment. Mistakes can be recognized in a positive learning environment.”
Bentley and New expressed appreciation for the grant funding, which they know will positively impact students well into the future.
This work is funded by the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education under state contract SC 415 2300000383.
