Bio

Eli Uttal-Veroff is a jazz and classical bassist. He is principal bassist of the Lexington Chamber Orchestra and an active performer of chamber music. He has appeared with the Lexington Philharmonic, both in their bass section and as a featured performer for their New Year’s Eve Pops concerts. As a jazz performer, he leads his own ensembles and is active as a sideman including recent performances with Carl Allen, Brandon Coleman, the DiMartino Osland Jazz Orchestra, and the American Spiritual Ensemble.

Eli maintains a diverse career as an educator. He is a member of the faculty of Eastern Kentucky University’s Music Industry program where he teaches courses in music business, jazz improvisation, and jazz history, and coaches the school’s jazz combos. He has previously taught at Bluegrass Community and Technical College and with MusicWorks, an El Sistema-inspired youth orchestra.

Off the stage, Uttal-Veroff is co-founder and director of Origins Jazz Series, which has produced three seasons of acclaimed jazz concerts, and previously served as the Managing Director of the Lexington Chamber Orchestra.
