Bio

Dr. Brad Granville currently serves as the Assistant Professor of Horn at Eastern Kentucky University, where he teaches applied horn and directs the EKU Horn Choir. He previously served on the faculty at Youngstown State University as Adjunct Instructor of Horn, and as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.

Since 2018, he has been Third Horn of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra. He has also served as Acting Fourth Horn of the Britt Festival Orchestra, Third Horn of the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra, and Acting Principal Horn of the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra. Dr. Granville is a frequent guest performer with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, ProMusica Chamber Orchestra, West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, and Cincinnati Orchestra. Additionally, he has performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra, Richmond Symphony Orchestra, the National Repertory Orchestra, and several other ensembles throughout the United States. Dr. Granville has performed recitals as a Contributing Artist for international and regional conferences of the International Horn Society. He has collaborated with artists and ensembles such as Jon Batiste, Joshua Henry, Ben Folds, and Celtic Woman.

As an active educator, Dr. Granville has presented guest masterclasses and clinics at high schools and colleges throughout the United States. His primary academic research fields include the study of political influence on musical repertoire, the study of Flow Theory as it pertains to music performance and education, and pedagogical and historical approaches to the Horn Concertos of W.A. Mozart. His research on political influence in horn repertoire and the connections between Flow Theory and horn pedagogy has been published in the journal of the International Horn Society.

Dr. Granville received a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, his Master of Music degree from DePaul University, and his Bachelor of Music Performance degree from The Ohio State University. His primary teachers include Denise Tryon, Oto Carrillo, Bruce Henniss, and Nicholas Perrini.
