Option 9

Option 9 provides an expedited route for paraeducators and classified school staff to earn a B.S. in Elementary Education and initial Kentucky teacher certification (P-5). The program can be completed in three years while working in the school system.

Competency-Based Education (CBE)

The addition of competency-based education courses (CBE) courses allows Option 9 students to earn credit based on demonstration of competency in specific skills and knowledge, rather than on time spent in class. CBE courses are self-paced assessment modules that empower you to apply your knowledge and experiences as a paraeducator to college coursework and demonstrate content mastery for up to 9 courses.

More complete details about Option 9 and CBE can be found on the B.S. Elementary Education page.
