Academic Integrity Violations

Academic dishonesty can occur in different forms, some of which include cheating, plagiarism, and fabrication. The University treats all instances of academic dishonesty seriously. Anyone who knowingly assists in any form of academic dishonesty shall be considered as responsible as the student who accepts such assistance and shall be subject to the same sanctions.

For academic integrity violations:

Organizational Misconduct or Hazing

The University recognizes the role which organized activities serve in enhancing the educational experience of the members of the University community. Intellectual and personal growth takes place in student organizations which have effective leaders and effective members. Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) at Eastern Kentucky University are based on, centered around, governed, and led by students. All RSOs and members are required to uphold all University policies and procedures.

Eastern Kentucky University is concerned about the emotional, psychological, and physical health and well-being of its students. Any form of hazing by individuals or groups is unacceptable and is in direct conflict with institutional values related to the rights and dignity of students, all of whom have the right to belong to groups without risk of danger or humiliation. Consent to hazing is never a defense to a violation of this statement.

All reports of Hazing or Student Organization Misconduct will follow the procedures outlined in the Student Code of Conduct.

Sexual Misconduct

The University does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religious belief, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy, ethnicity, disability, medical condition, veteran status, genetic information, age, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local law in its programs and activities. This prohibition applies to all University programs or activities, including but not limited to admission and employment. The University will not tolerate discrimination of any kind, including all forms of sexual or gender-based discrimination, harassment, and misconduct, such as Sexual Assault, dating and domestic violence, sexual exploitation, and stalking.
