Instructional Design Center

Housed within EKU Online, the Instructional Design Center is committed to supporting faculty in the development of high-quality instructional content. We partner with faculty in the design and development of face-to-face, hybrid, and fully online courses to support an effective blend of instructional strategies and educational technology.

Utilizing evidence-based practices, our Instructional Design Team can provide support in both the technological and pedagogical aspects of modern higher education. Whether drawing from years of teaching experience or newer into teaching practice, the IDC can help brainstorm and explore a range of options for faculty to achieve their course outcomes and support student learning.

The IDC is here to support faculty with a wide range of needs through consultations and projects, such as:

  • Partnering on a design or redesign for your course, building around the Learning Objectives and Outcomes that speak to faculty and program goals.
  • Collaborating to explore new pedagogical strategies for online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses.
  • Identifying instructional technology that best supports authentic learning opportunities for students.

About the IDC


The Instructional Design Center (IDC) within EKU is an award winning department within EKU Online committed to enhancing the quality of online education. The IDC provides a range of services including complete course design, consultation services on various aspects of online course design and deliver. Faculty professional development and training on topics such as LMS usability, student engagement, academic integrity, and more.

History of the IDC


For over fifteen years, The IDC has been dedicated to enhancing faculty knowledge and skills in teaching and learning. Utilizing evidence-based practices, the IDC has consistently adapted and expanded its services in response to the growing and changing demand for online and hybrid learning modalities. This commitment is reflected in our holistic and personalized approach to faculty support. Our aim is to ensure that educators are well-equipped to meet the evolving needs of students in all learning environments.
