Honors Program
The mission of the EKU Honors Program is to provide its students with the best intellectual resources available at the university in order to empower them to attain their highest academic and professional goals. We develop the whole student by way of our interdisciplinary, small classes, our support of student research and travel to regional and national conferences, and our offering of a wide variety of cultural and out-of-classroom experiences
Interested in Teaching an Honors Course?
Courses are typically taught by faculty as part of their normal teaching load. Faculty members who wish to teach in the honors program should first approach their department chair to secure departmental support for their work in honors instruction.
Each May, EKU Honors hosts a faculty workshop for those interested in teaching honors courses. This event is held on the Tuesday following the spring commencement ceremony.
Thesis Faculty Mentors
All honors students are required to complete an honors thesis in order to graduate as an EKU Honors Scholar. Each thesis student must select a faculty mentor to guide and grade their progress on this project.
If a student approaches you to be their mentor, see the Honors Thesis Information page for more information. Feel free to contact the director if you have questions about the process.
Any faculty mentor who has not mentored an honors student before should make an appointment to arrange a joint meeting with the director and the honors student before beginning work on the thesis project.
