Resources for Returning From Abroad

Welcome back from your time abroad! We hope you had an eye-opening experience that will continue to impact your life. Education Abroad offers you a number of ways to build on your time abroad so please stay in touch with us through graduation and beyond.

Once you have returned from your program, Education Abroad will invite you to complete an online evaluation about your experience. Completing the evaluation will help future participants know what to expect from the program and help them prepare for the experience.

Grades and Course Equivalency Petitions

We know you will be anxious to get your grades from abroad, but they take time to process, depending on your program situation.

  • If you have questions about Study Abroad credits transferring or how they are recorded… Reach out to ekuabroad@eku.edu!
  • If you need to have courses rearticulated… Reach out to ekuabroad@eku.edu!
  • All transcripts should be sent to the Education Abroad Office. If they are sent to admissions, please notify us when you order them as we are not notified when they are received. Not communicating with the Education Abroad Office about your study abroad transcript can lead to delays in processing the necessary forms. This can impact financial aid and registration for future terms.

Coming home from a semester or year abroad can be as trying as acclimating to a new culture. Don’t be shocked if you experience reverse culture shock; it is just another stage in the experience of studying abroad.

Resources for Transitioning Back to Campus—Or Going Abroad Again

As you make the transition back to campus, make use of the opportunities Education Abroad offers to you. These include resources about staying connected abroad as well as going abroad again. Help future participants by being a contact for them as an Education Abroad Student Ambassador. Share your photos by completing an Education Abroad Student Spotlight. In these and other ways you can share your experience with other students and make your program an active part of your current life.
