Once you have applied for benefits and received your Certificate of Eligibility, upload it to the Office of Military & Veterans Affairs portal.

Note: For CH 35 Recipients, we will need your Sponsor’s (Veteran’s) Social Security Number. Please call us at 859-622-2345 to provide that information and have your EKU 901# available.

STEP FOUR: Apply for the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs (KDVA) Waiver (if applicable)

The KDVA Tuition Waiver is an education benefit provided by the Commonwealth of Kentucky in recognition of military service of certain Kentucky veterans. The tuition waiver is provided for children, stepchildren, adopted children, spouses, and un-remarried widows and widowers. An approved tuition waiver means a student may attend any two-year, four-year or vocational technical schools that are operated and funded by the Kentucky Department of Education. Applications can be emailed to kdva.tuitionwaiver@ky.gov.

Please note that KDVA Waivers must be submitted to OMVA prior to the add/drop date of the semester the student is enrolled and cannot be applied retroactively. KDVA Waivers received after the first day of classes will be applied for subsequent semesters the student is enrolled and/or the after the date the waiver is dated, whichever comes first.

If you already have a KDVA Tuition Waiver from another school, the School Certifying Official should send a copy of the KDVA Tuition Waiver as well as as the number of months used to EKUVETS@eku.edu.

Note: The KDVA tuition waiver only covers tuition at EKU. Students are still responsible for all university fees and other applicable charges to their account.
