Campus Resources for Staying Healthy

Campus Recreation
Become a member of the Campus Recreation Center and enjoy the opportunity to utilize the beautiful new facility in the heart of campus. View the amenities offered at the facility below. Exercise alone, bring friends and family, or join group fitness. Campus Rec offers a variety of classes at various times throughout the week. Group fitness classes are included in Campus Recreation membership.

Community Education
Classes vary every semester, but may include: Water Aerobics, Lap Swim Classes, Social Dance, Yoga, Fencing, Tennis and Tai Chi.

Community Garden
If you are an EKU employee, the EKU Community Garden may be an option for you! Two plot sizes are available (12′ x 12′ for $10, 12′ x 24′ for $20). The plots are located next to the McKinney Training Complex and behind the Ashland Building. Gardeners will have access to water hoses. Email healthyyou@eku.edu for more information.

Farmers Market at EKU
Farmers markets provide an opportunity to purchase food directly from local farms. Local food is full of flavor, harvested at its nutritional peak, and available at the market soon after. It doesn’t travel long distances, so buying from local farms also reduces the environmental impact of bringing food to your table (the average food item travels about 1,500 miles to reach us) while providing support for the local economy.

EKU hosts the Madison County Farmers Market every Thursday from 9 a.m. -1 p.m. beginning June 1st through September 21, 2024. It can be found at the EKU Carter Building Lot (across the by-pass from Alumni Coliseum, left of the greenhouses and Carter Building).

Wellness Champ

Wellness Champions play an important role in reaching out and engaging faculty and staff within their work unit. A champion’s ability to effectively communicate with their work unit about the programs and resources available, to encourage them to take advantage of these services and to champion the creation of a healthy workplace culture is key to our success in improving the health and well-being of EKU’s faculty and staff.
