Departmental Scholarships and Awards
The Charles D. Whitlock Distinguished Alumnus Award
Established in 2013 to honor the former history major President Doug Whitlock for his accomplishments and years of service to EKU. Each year it is given to an alumnus of the history and the history teaching program for their service and achievements since graduating from our programs.
Undergraduate Awards
The Kerney Adams Scholarship Award, named for our longtime EKU History Department Chair, is given annually to the department’s top rising senior History or History / Teaching major.
The Martha Ruth Burton Perry and Hollis Raymond Perry Memorial Scholarship is meant for a non-traditional undergraduate History or History Teaching major. (Select the link to review the instructions and obtain an application.)
The Quentin Begley Keen Award, named for a longtime EKU History Department faculty member, is given annually to the department’s top rising junior History or History/Teaching major.
Graduate Award
The Topmiller History Scholarship is awarded to the top history M.A. student in HIS 800 for books.
Undergraduate and Graduate Award
The William Collins, Jr. Writing Award is given for the top research paper on the graduate level and the undergraduate level.
College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences (CLASS) Scholarships
The College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences (CLASS) has a number of scholarships and History majors are encouraged to apply. These scholarships include:
