Eligibility for Services

All students enrolled in classes at Eastern Kentucky University may utilize Student Health Services. Students should present a picture ID at the time of check-in to verify status.

Services Provided

• Evaluation and treatment of illnesses and injuries
• Physicals
• Gynecologic Services (contraception, pregnancy test, pap smear, menstrual health)
• Rapid testing for flu, strep throat, COVID-19, mononucleosis, UTI, anemia and blood sugar
• Allergy injections (with completed paperwork)
• TB skin testing
• Evaluation and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases
• Mental health services
• Laboratory services (as determined by our providers; no outside orders)

Student Financial Responsibility

There is no co-pay or fee for services and we do not bill your insurance. 

Medical Records

Medical records are strictly confidential and are not released to anyone without the student’s knowledge and a signed authorization.

Class Excuses

Being excused from classes is an academic decision, and students need to communicate directly with their instructors. A statement will be given by the provider for the following reasons:

1. Referral for hospitalization or specialty care.
2. Referral home for medical care.
3. At the discretion of the provider, e.g. medical isolation, activity/work restrictions, etc.

TB Skin Tests, Immunizations, Titers, and Allergy Injections

TB Skin tests can be performed by Student Health Services for no fee. Appointments can be made for TB Skin Tests which are performed on certain dates and times:

Mondays and Tuesdays only- 8:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.- 3:30 p.m.

There is a 48-72 hour timeframe as to when you must return to receive the results of the TB Skin Test. The days and times provided below are reserved to only receive the results of the TB Skin test. TB Skin Test results are provided on the following dates and times:

Wednesdays and Thursdays, depending on the timeframe stated by the Nurse

Immunizations

It is not a requirement to be immunized to register for courses, but some departments may require certain vaccines. Please check with your department to determine if you are in need of a vaccine.

Lab titers for immunity are also available, and may help to determine if a vaccine is necessary.

Vaccines and Blood Titers must be done before 3:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.

Continuation of Allergy Injections

With the appropriate paperwork provided prior to the continuation of allergy Injections, eligible students are able to receive allergy Injections at Student Health Services. Call for additional information.

Please note: Allergy Injections are not to be done between 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. or later than 4:00 p.m. Allergy Injections are only done during normal business hours and not on the weekend or when the university is closed.
