Dual Credit at EKU

Get a jump start on earning college credit.

Earn college credit at a reduced tuition rate while still in high school. EKU Dual Credit is a dual-enrollment program for eligible high school juniors and seniors that offers the opportunity to take college-level courses for high school credit and college credit. EKU offers a variety of general education courses, career pathway courses, and required courses for a student’s future major.

Public school, private school, and home school students in Kentucky are all eligible for the program and can take their EKU dual credit courses in their high school (if offered), online, at our main campus in Richmond or at our regional campuses in Corbin and Manchester.

Dual Credit FAQs


  • Apply Online
  • Submit your high school transcript. We encourage you to request your transcript through Parchment.

Once you are admitted to EKU, you will receive an email from Admissions stating that you have been accepted. A few days after you are admitted, you will receive another email that will have your login credentials and information on how to access your MyEKU account and EKU email. Please keep your student ID number with you on campus.

  • You’ll receive an acceptance email from EKU Admissions
  • A couple of days later you’ll receive a second email with your login credentials and information on how to access your MyEKU student account and student email
  • Use the information in the second email to log in and secure your account with two-factor authentication
  • Register for classes!
  • If you plan to take Dual Credit classes at your high school, talk with your high school guidance counselor about enrolling
  • If you plan to take Dual Credit classes at EKU, register for your classes through MyEKU

Your Dual Credit portal serves as a resource to answer many frequently asked questions. In addition to general information about how EKU Dual Credit works, you can find how-to guides and videos. You’ll receive access to your Student Orientation Portal after you’ve been accepted as a Dual Credit student.

Because of procedures to assign state dual credit scholarships through KHEAA, student accounts will not reflect scholarships, and will have a tuition balance, until November for the Fall semester and April for the Spring semester. We will email students when accounts are accurate, but students are encouraged to check their EKU Direct account as well. If not using a KHEAA Scholarship, students may pay for course materials and tuition at any time.

  • $95 Per credit tuition
  • $285 – Average course tuition
  • $75 – Average book cost per semester

Campus Recreation
For students that live near our Richmond campus, you may participate in the Campus Recreation Center for $35 per semester. Participation is optional.

Parking
If you are taking in-person courses at our main campus in Richmond, you must purchase a parking pass. The parking pass costs $165 and can be purchased at EKU’s Parking Website.

KHEAA Scholarships

KHEAA Dual Credit Scholarships and Work Ready Dual Credit Scholarships may be used towards covering tuition. Use the links below for additional information and to complete the application.

Homeschool Students

  • Homeschool students may still qualify for the KHEAA Dual Credit Scholarships, but must apply using the Home School Application for Dual Credit scholarships through KHEAA. Select the button below to access the application!
  • Homeschool students may not use the KHEAA Work Ready Dual Credit Scholarship to pay for their Work Ready Courses per KHEAA.

KY State Requirements

  • Be enrolled in a participating secondary school. Colleges may also provide dual credit to eligible students in private secondary schools and home school settings.
  • Meet the college’s dual credit requirements for admission.
  • Be admitted to the participating college as a dual credit student.
  • Meet the requirements for placement into college credit-bearing courses or courses in programs of study that align with a career pathway.

EKU Requirements

  • Complete an application for admissions.
  • The student must have an unweighted GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Be a Junior or Senior in high school.
  • Placement exams like the ACT or SAT are not required for admissions but may be required for certain Math and Science courses.
  • Complete the Dual Credit Orientation after acceptance.
  • Enroll in one or more Dual Credit courses.

Students are only required to complete an application once for the Dual Credit program.

Homeschooled Students
If you are a Kentucky homeschooled high school student, you may enroll in dual credit courses if you meet the Dual Credit admissions requirements and submit a transcript showing your current grade level.
