Interested in software development for basic computer science, scientific, and engineering applications? EKU’s B.S. in Computer Science is a technically oriented degree with a strong emphasis on developing programming skills in the areas of general computer science, computer technology, interactive multimedia (game design), and artificial intelligence in data science. The program is accredited by ABET, which means it meets high quality standards and will prepare you to start your career in this high-demand profession or to continue your education in graduate school.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), overall employment in computer and information technology occupations is projected to grow much faster than the average for all occupations from now until 2032. Approximately 377,500 openings are projected each year to meet employment growth and to fill positions of workers who leave the field permanently.

Learn essential skills for today’s computer science careers. Our programs are made up of high-quality courses and taught by experienced professors. EKU’s curriculum blends academic and professional preparation for career options including computer science, computer technology, interactive multimedia, artificial intelligence in data science, network security and electronics, tech systems and digital forensics and cybersecurity.
A minimum of 120 credits are required to graduate with a bachelor’s in computer science.

Students may transfer up to 90 hours of credit from accredited institutions. Please note that a minimum of 30 credit hours in this degree program must be completed at Eastern Kentucky University.
Previously earned credits must be reviewed upon admission to EKU for appropriate articulation.
