Welcome to the School of Communication
Our mission is to train you to be a journalist… a broadcaster… a filmmaker… a public relations practitioner… or a communication studies specialist… And to help you make the leap in four years from student to media professional.
We believe communication education is like a balance bringing together theory and practice by employing mentoring, coaching and teaching. Our professors balance a foundation in the issues with an understanding of technology.
Our courses emphasize hands-on learning as well as models of instruction that teach students how to be successful media professionals, as well as how to recognize and adjust to the changing media environment of the 21st century.

Accreditation
EKU’s Public Relations program was certified by PRSA in 1990 and is the second oldest certified program in the world. It was most recently re-certified in 2012 and is one of only 39 such programs worldwide!
