Gain Skills to Provide Services to Those with Autism Spectrum Disorders

Individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) represent an increasing group of the population who require an individualized and specialized approach to assessment, treatment planning, and intervention. As interest increases in providing appropriate identification and support for people on the autism spectrum, interest in professionals with training and experience in ASD also increases.

Please review the admissions requirements before applying for this or any program. If you have questions about the program or are planning to register for classes, please speak to the program advisor.

The number of credits allowed for transfer to graduate programs varies by program length. Please note that a minimum of 25% of credit hours in this degree program must be completed at Eastern Kentucky University, but individual program requirements may vary.

Credits earned at other institutions may be transferred only when a grade of “B” (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) or above has been earned.

Previously earned credits must be reviewed upon admission to EKU for appropriate articulation.

Participation is limited to students enrolled in graduate degree programs in psychology, occupational therapy, communication disorders, and special education. Admission to one of the designated graduate degree programs does not guarantee admission to the certificate program. Post-degree students with graduate degrees in one of these fields will also be considered, although the focus of the certificate is on pre-service training.

My favorite part of being an EKU student was being able to gain experiences relevant to my field, while also networking with other professionals and leaders which opened the door for my success. I, along with my peers, had doors opened for us that lead us on pathways that were not available to us by default. It truly is a college of opportunity.

I can’t speak highly enough of the EKU Online program. I am so grateful for all of the hard work that all of the staff put into it every day. The feeling of accomplishment and self-confidence that this opportunity has provided me is worth as much to me as the degree I’m earning.
