Program Options

You can tailor your psychology degree to align with your interests and career goals by choosing from one of the following concentrations. Courses in each option are taught by experienced faculty dedicated to your success.

This concentration provides a bridge between cognitive science and biopsychology that examines mental processes and complex behavior.

This concentration offers you with a comprehensive understanding of biological, psychological, social, cognitive, and historical influences on child, adolescent, and adult development.

Select this concentration to build a comprehensive understanding of autism and its effects on individuals, while developing your skills in applied assessment and intervention.

This concentration provides you with an introduction to the major areas of forensic psychology and prepares students to enroll in an appropriate graduate program upon completion.

Prepare to sit for the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner (CPRP) certification exam or to take on a variety of entry-level mental health and social services careers. This concentration is a great foundation for graduate or professional programs.

Open doors to a variety of career options with the general psychology concentration. Build critical thinking, communication and problem-solving skills. Graduates are prepared for entry-level positions or to enroll in an appropriate graduate program. 

Select this concentration to gain a comprehensive understanding of the application of psychological theories and procedures to the workplace.

This concentration will provide a comprehensive understanding of substance abuse and how it impacts individuals, families, and communities.

Curriculum & Enrollment


EKU’s psychology curriculum prepares students to pursue a variety of rewarding career possibilities by offering multiple in-demand concentration options and blending academic and professional preparation through dynamic, career-oriented coursework.

Psychology courses include abnormal psychology, social psychology, statistics-research, psychological interviewing and reporting, behavior therapy and clinical psychology. The program also offers unique opportunities for joint student-faculty research.

Students may transfer up to 90 hours of credit from accredited institutions. Please note that a minimum of 30 credit hours in this degree program must be completed at Eastern Kentucky University.

Previously earned credits must be reviewed upon admission to EKU for appropriate articulation.

All applicants must provide an application and evidence of appropriate scholastic achievement through prior educational experience.

Please note that certain degree programs have special admission requirements. Admission to the University does not mean automatic admission to all degree programs.

The completed application and all required supporting documentation must be received by the University no later than:

• August 1 for fall enrollment
• December 1 for spring enrollment
• May 1 for summer enrollment
