Career Outlook

Family nurse practitioners are Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) educated to provide a full range of primary care services and are becoming a health care provider of choice for many people. As clinicians with clinical expertise in diagnosing and treating health conditions with an added emphasis on disease prevention and health management, APRNs will be increasingly utilized in collaborative models of care.

Employment of nurse practitioners, nurse anesthetists and nurse midwives is projected to grow 45 percent before 2029, much faster than the average for all occupations.
