The College of Education and Applied Human Sciences at EKU is committed to helping candidates identify, demonstrate, and develop professional dispositions and ethical practices as they complete their educator preparation programs. Dispositions are operationally defined as tendencies or beliefs that are conveyed or made public through observable behaviors.
The Graduate School will send instructions for completing a digital dispositions evaluation to the individual you designate as a reference. It is important that you identify a professional reference with knowledge of your dispositions and ethical practices to complete the evaluation. Do not designate a friend, family member, or casual acquaintance.
The evaluation includes indicators measuring:
- Advocacy for Students,
- Commitment to a Positive Classroom Culture,
- Commitment to Student Growth
- Communication and Collaboration
- Critical Thinking
- Cultural Competency and Equity
- Reflective Practice
- Professionalism and Ethical Decision-Making.
The ratings you receive from the reviewer are only one evaluation component for admission to a graduate program. Receiving a rating of “less than acceptable” for an indicator will not exclude you from admission. Instead, it will guide your advisors, professors and mentors in building your dispositional and ethical competencies during your program of study.
We recommend you alert the reference to anticipate an email from EKU with instructions for completing the inventory. Make sure you provide an accurate email address for the reference you select.
