Dr. Tahsin Imtiazul Huq is an Assistant Professor of Finance and Economics in the College of Business at Eastern Kentucky University. Dr. Huq has received his Ph.D. in Financial Economics from the University of New Orleans in 2022. He has also received a Master of Science in Finance from the University of New Orleans. Dr. Huq teaches corporate finance, essentials of finance, investments, entrepreneurial finance, and designing a course to teach financial technology, blockchain, cryptocurrency, and cybersecurity. He serves as an advisor to the Evans Banking Program Advisory Board.
Dr. Huq has published several papers and book chapters in notable finance journals. His research paper titled “The effects of firm political contributions on earmarks and subsequent firm performance” has been published in Research in International Business. Another paper titled “Does the Covid-19 pandemic affect faith-based investments? Evidence from global sectoral indices” has also been published in Research in International Business. Additionally, Dr. Huq has published a book chapter titled “Islamic finance in North America” in the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Religion.
Dr. Huq has presented research at the Financial Management Association annual meeting, the Southern Finance Association, the Academy of Economics and Finance conference, the Southwestern Finance Association annual meeting, and the Southwestern Society of Economists conference. His paper received a distinguished paper award at the Southwestern Society of Economists conference in 2022. Dr. Huq has also received the best paper award at the Academy of Economics and Finance conference in 2021. He has served as session chair and discussed papers at these conferences.
Dr. Huq serves in many leadership roles at university, college, and department levels at Eastern Kentucky University. Dr. Huq is a member of the University Research Committee and the University General Education Committee. He serves in the College of Business Technology Committee and Data-Driven Council and as a faculty advisor for the Financial Management and Association Eastern Kentucky University chapter. Furthermore, Dr. Huq is a faculty advisor for the Investment Club at the College of Business.
Dr. Huq is a reviewer for the Managerial Finance journal, Research in International Business and Finance Journal, Quarterly Journal of Finance and Accounting, Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences, and International Journal of Islamic and Middle Eastern Finance and Management.
Originally from Dhaka, Bangladesh, Dr. Huq has completed his undergraduate in Economics from Lawrence University in Wisconsin.
