Flight Policies

Flight Lab Policy

All of the requirements for students engaged in flight training at EKU Aviation are provided. Students are required to review EKU Flight Lab Policies prior to beginning their flight training and flight lab registration.

Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

All students, faculty, and staff are required to comply with the EKU Aviation Standard Operating procedures (SOPs) at all times. These standard operating procedures are designed to promote safety and efficiency while complying with both University and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.

Drug and Alcohol Policy

Eastern Kentucky University’s Aviation Program believes strongly in protecting its students, faculty, employees, University property, and the public.  To protect the life and interests of the parties involved, and to maintain an environment with highest standards of health and safety, the Program is instituting this policy. The Program mirrors the Department of Transportation and Federal Aviation Administration’s guidelines to ensure fairness and equity to all individuals.

Flight Insurance

EKU students may now purchase coverage for renters and flight instructors, also known as ‘non-owned coverage’, online. Visit the Starr Insurance website and complete the online application.
