Eastern Kentucky University is certified as an FAR Part 141 Institution of Higher Learning by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to award a 1,000 hour Restricted Airline Transport Pilot (R-ATP) certificate. This certificate allows students to start flying for a commercial air carrier with just 1,000 hours as a first officer as opposed to 1,500 hours via another flight school, all while earning their degree.
